Micro-scale climate modelling

Description

Micro-scale modelling at the urban neighbourhood or even district level provides a fairly accurate assessment of the climate situation. The presence of high wind gusts, poor aeration, low pedestrian comfort and many other effects of the urbanization influence on the microclimate can be estimated using microscale modelling. The constantly changing structure of the city changes surface roughness and albedo, which affects the wind field and thermal comfort. Therefore, the results obtained a year, six months or even a couple of months ago may not be relevant at the moment, due to the rapid variability of urban development.

Our approach to assessing the urban climate allows us to obtain highly accurate results quickly.

Main assessments

Wind flow

  • Wind patterns in complex environments
  • Wind speed around buildings and trees
  • Wind comfort

Outdoor Thermal Comfort

  • Air temperature
  • Radiant temperature of surrounding surfaces
  • Air movement in the vicinity of the body
  • Relative Humidity

Additional assessments

Air Pollutant Dispersion

  • Emission and transport of particles and gases
  • Chemical reactions between NOx, Ozone and (B)VOC
  • Includes deposition on plants and surfaces
  • Integrated tools to calculate traffic emission profiles
